About me
I am a thirty-something year-old systems administrator with an interest in video games, anime, Linux, and science fiction. I was born in the North of England, and currently live in Scotland. It's cold up here. :(
I am currently employed by Exscientia, as a Research Computing Platform Engineer, focusing on AWS Infrastructure as Code. I spend a lot of my free time playing video games on my Arch Linux desktop, as well as on my PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. I also frequent several internet forums, including the Arch Linux forums, where I am a moderator, for my sins.
I enjoy brewing, and make my own mead and alcoholic ginger beer.
Life status
I have been in a relationship with a very patient woman for many years. She is three days older than me, and does not approve of me teasing her about it. We moved in together in June 2016, and bought a house together in 2020. We are currently owned by five cats, called Mimi Triphazard, Amethyst, Rosemary, Lillie, and Aragorn. They are all domestic shorthairs, although the amount of fluff we sweep up on a weekly basis would suggest otherwise..
Kitten/cat Fostering
Our house is sufficiently big enough that we can dedicate one of the rooms to fostering kittens (or rescue cats), something that we started doing in August 2020 for the Angus Cat Rescue. We were inspired to do this by such volunteers as John Bartlett and Shelly Roche.
About the site
This website was designed and coded by myself using HTML5, PHP5, and CSS3. It was written using vim, and the images were created using GIMP. It is developed on my desktop, and hosted on a Debian webserver running Nginx. I manage the content with git SCM.
